Lauren tells us what it’s like to be a booking staff member.

We call ourselves booking staff but realistically we are puzzle doers, parking officers, traffic coordinators, post people, payroll officers, accommodation organisers, flight bookers, public hospital administrative support staff, councillors & paperwork police.

Gone are the days when you just book a staff into a hospital with one bit of paper. This role is really varied and comes naturally to quick thinking people who can deliver to all manner of clients.

The most important thing about booking staff is that we really try every trick in the book to get the staff the shifts they want and also get the clients the staff they want. Sometimes it’s easy and sometimes it’s really hard. Referred to as Selling Ice to eskimos.

We get asked the funniest questions and have heard all the excuses as to why agency staff can’t work. The one that really sticks in my mind is that the “Saints Arm is raised and the leg is up” another good one was “I tripped over the dog and fell down the stairs.”

The booking staff at Kemp really have a good time in the office and the highlight of the week is the Friday drinks, these could be anything from Pina Coladas to Espresso Martinis. The barman here is VERY heavy handed.

People often ask me “How do you guys know all this information?” and I like to think that we just know all of our staff and clients really well. I am convinced that Kemp Recruitment is the future of agency’s because of this and this alone.
